St. Lucy's Church Newark, NJ, chosen as honored parish for the 20th Annual Columbus Day Parade

The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival has chosen St. Lucy's Church Newark, NJ as it’s honored parish for the Ocean County Columbus Day 20th Annual Parade on October 9, 2011 in Seaside Heights New Jersey.

St Lucy's and the National Shrine of St. Gerard was selected because of it's long standing commitment to the spiritual heritage and legacy of Italian Americans in New Jersey. St. Lucy's is a parish without walls with national recognition. Please go out on Face book and friend STLUCYS.  You can enjoy the many pictures and stories of this great parish located in the Old First Ward of Newark, New Jersey....

Sunday October 9, 2011:

The day will start with a mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Grant Avenue in Seaside Heights, NJ, at 10:30 am.
The parade will be on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights, NJ. Parade starts promptly at 1 pm.

We expect the Pastor of St Lucy’s Father Luigi Zanotto, St Gerard Committees, Rosary Society and other church groups and parishioners that make St Lucy’s what it is today to be marching in the parade. Anyone wishing to march with St Lucy’s contingency should send an email to Parish Communications list below.

Included in the parade this year will be an Italian Group "Torre Sibiliana" a folkloric group of singers and dancers from Petrosino, a Province of Trapani Italy, The Italian Police, NJ Italian American Police Organization, Italian American Organizations from Monmouth and Ocean Counties including Seaside Heights Italian American Club and local UNICO orgnaizations including UNICO National, and many other bands, local organizations, schools, antique cars, floats, event sponsors and of course Santa Claus. Last year it was estimated that there were over 85,000 observers attending the parade and festival.

The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade's Italian Festival will commence Friday October 7 at 4pm and will continue throughout the weekend on Grant Avenue Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
